Stacked and satisfying: Where to find Ipswich’s best burgers

By Ashleigh Howarth

Juicy patties, melty cheese, and all the toppings you could dream of – Ipswich chefs sure know their way around a burger.

From no-frills favourites to jaw-dropping creations, these are Ipswich’s best burgers…

La Parilla

For a flavour explosion that will set your taste buds dancing, look no further than the fiery, fresh, and oh-so-tantalising South American flair of La Parrilla (meaning “The Grill” in Spanish).

Your stomach won’t stand a chance once you lay eyes on their burger menu, with these two options both packing a punch.

The juicy Black Angus with a 180g grilled beef patty, cheese, pickle, lettuce, fresh tomato, red onion, tomato sauce and mustard on a fresh milk bun is simple, bold, and unforgettable.

Secondly, the low and slow cooked Bacon Brisket Burger is layered with a grilled bacon rasher, melted American cheese, red onion, pickles, and a mouthwatering combo of hickory barbecue and ranch sauce, all hugged by a soft milk bun.

One bite and you’ll be planning your next cheat day around La Parrilla.

Char’d Restaurant at the PA Hotel

The PA Hotel smash burger isn’t just a meal – it’s a pretty large statement on a plate.

With two perfectly smashed thin beef patties, melted cheese oozing over the sides, as well as crispy bacon adding a satisfying crunch, sweet caramelised onions and tangy pickle-flavoured ketchup sandwiched between a lightly toasted brioche bun, this hamburger is a feast for the senses.

For those who like to customise, the burger can be taken even further with added extras like fried egg, smashed avocado, additional bacon, or extra cheese – each adding its own texture and flavour to the indulgent experience.

Hotel Commonwealth

Whether you’re catching up with friends, treating the family to a well-deserved night out, or planning a relaxed date night, the Commonwealth Cheeseburger from Hotel Commonwealth is a crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Stacked with a juicy 200g patty, melted American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickles, burger sauce, golden fries, and crunchy onion rings, this is the kind of meal you’ll want to come hungry for!

Housed inside a heritage-listed building with roots stretching back to the late 19th century, Hotel Commonwealth is more than just a place to eat – it’s a slice of Ipswich history.

After years of preservation and a thoughtful renovation, the venue reopened in 2024, blending modern dining with timeless character and charm.

Jets Leagues Club

The chefs at Jets Leagues Club have gone bigger, bolder and more indulgent with their new burger – a more refined cousin of the humble cheeseburger – known as the Jets Wagyu Beef Burger.

This is no ordinary burger – It starts with a rich, juicy Wagyu beef patty, grilled to perfection for that unbeatable flavour and tenderness.

Then it’s layered on a soft, buttery brioche bun, stacked with crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, ripe tomato, and finished with a tangy pickle, mustard aioli that ties everything together.

Cheese, onion relish, and a gentle crunch in every bite make it a burger that delivers on taste and texture from first mouthful to last.

Of course, no burger is complete without the sides – so they’ve added a generous serve of golden chips to round out the experience.

This burger isn’t just big—it’s a tower of flavour jam-packed with the good stuff us down under love like a premium Beef patty with cheese, tomato, onion, pickles, beetroot, pineapple, fried egg, smoked bacon and Chipotle mayo and a generous serving of all those all-important chips.
